Among awards and screenings

On Saturday July 18th in the picturesque setting of Palazzo Casali in Cortona was the evening devoted to the awards ceremony of the competitions related to Cortona On The Move 2015.
To open the event, the award ceremony of the competition Truck in Reportage, «a social photographic call to action for travellers par excellence: truck drivers» organised by the Festival in collaboration with FAI Service, the service company for road transport for the second year among the main sponsors of the event. The three winners selected by the jury – Mauro Barona, Alin Dumitrache and Leonard Dacian Mitrut Hanea – only Mauro Barona was present to accept his prize.
The evening then continued with screenings of works selected from the PMH 2015 Grant Winner, the annual competition organised by the Photographic Museum of Humanity, and with those of the works of some young Russian authors, particularly worthy of attention, selected by Andrei Polikanov, curator of the section of the Festival dedicated to Russia.
Perhaps the most eagerly awaited moment, in other words the award for the International Award Happiness on the Move/Felicità in movimento 2015, which was unfortunately marred by the absence of the winner, the Korean photographer Daesung Lee, who was unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. After the reading of the jury, the best works produced by the participants at the Award were then screened. The evening ended with the customary acknowledgements and with the official opening of the now traditional late-night party, while on the screen ran the faces of all the collaborators of the event.
A pleasant evening that, despite some minor snags, gave us the vision of notable works, confirming that the road taken by the festival is, undoubtedly, that of continuing growth. [ S. B. ]

Amina Okuyeva poses for the photo in a flat she shares with her mother and son. She was on Maidan from December 2014 working as a medical volunteer.
