Celeste Prize 2017

Applications are open for the 9th edition of Celeste Prize, the international prize organized by Steven Music and Celeste Network to promote international contemporary art in the widest possible sense. There will be a final exhibition of fifty works and three projects, a catalogue which will contain illustrations of finalists' works and critical texts, as well as six prizes totalling 23,000 € in cash.

The competition is open to any person practicing art (artists, photographers and creatives), either as a full-time or part-time professional or student, or as a self-taught artist from anywhere in the world. There is no age limit for applicants and the prize is open to all artists whatever their qualifications, with or without experience of public or private exhibitions. To participate just login or sign-up here to access to/create your personal page in Celeste Network, then click on Join the prize, follow the instructions, pay your entry fee and begin to upload your artwork, description and statement.

A two-stage selection process guarantees openess, clarity and legitimacy to selections and awards. Firstly, fifty finalist works and three finalist projects will be chosen by a jury of top art curators and critics led by Fatoş Üstek, acclaimed writer and curator of London’s Art Night 2017. Then the finalist artists themselves will vote the award winning works during the final exhibition which is taking place in London, at The Bargehouse – OXO Tower, during the Frieze Art Fair week (October 6th - 8th, 2017).

Rewarding benefits and 4000 € cash prizes will be up for grabs for the winners of the Project Prize, Painting & Drawing Prize, Photography & Digital Graphics Prize, Video & Animation Prize and for Installation, Sculpture & Performance Prize. 3000 € cash prizes will be up for grabs for the winner of the Super-Young Prize (for under 26-year-olds only). Amina Okuyeva poses for the photo in a flat she shares with her mother and son. She was on Maidan from December 2014 working as a medical volunteer.
