Simona Ghizzoni will be in Cortona at the sixth edition of the Cortona On The Move festival to conduct a two-day workshop, which will be focused on portrait, open to all emerging photographers or photography students who intend to work in the field of documentary photography.
The objective of the initiative conducted by the award-winning photojournalist from Reggio Emilia, represented by the Agenzia Contrasto, is to enable the participants to learn how to use the portrait as an important element of social study. Photographing people, family members or strangers that they are, in fact, implies having a strong aptitude to listening on the part of the photographer, a propensity to dialogue and emotional contact that allows overcoming the mutual differences and mistrust. Only by doing so can we try to unveil, through the portrait, as much of the essence of the individual as the universality of the human condition. During the two-day workshop, the students will therefore be encouraged to reflect on their own approach to their photographic work, and particularly the portrait, through an in-depth collective discussion and different moments devoted to editing. In addition to this a short lesson will be held on contemporary photographers who use portrait as an element of social study, an overview on how to finance photographic projects and a look on the different possibilities of publication.
The workshop is scheduled for the 16th and 17th July 2016 with between six to fifteen participants. The initiative falls within the educational programme organised on the occasion of the 2016 edition of Cortona On The Move and realised thanks to the collaboration between Cortona OTM and Leica Akademie. More information about the workshop contents and how to register is available on the web page and indicated in the Info.
