Entirely conceptual Yann Haeberlin's work, he uses photography as a tool to conduct an investigation, which starts from an intimate and personal level to extend up to dealing with, although indirectly, the themes of neo-colonialism, globalisation and power relations which exist between North and South. «My daily life – says Yann Haeberlin – is governed by a multitude of operations, trade and ties at a global level. I would not be who I am, without the phenomenon of globalisation».
As pointed out more than once, the value of many conceptual works is certainly not in the gratification of the eye of the viewer. And the works of Haeberlin are of no exception. It being understood that the system of incontestable thinking is at the base of the images, the use of photography is essentially relegated to the role of an instrument capable of recording tracks in the world followed by the author in the development of his thoughts. The edition is essential, with the prints mounted on rigid support and placed on thin shelves on the walls in a relatively small room, which adheres to the cold conceptual work by Haeberlin. [ S.
