Lumix Festival Awards

From the 15th until the 19th of June 2016 all over the area of the former Expo in Hannover the Lumix Festival will be held. Organized by the degree program photojournalism and documentary photography of the Hannover University of Applied Sciences together with the non-profit association for the promotion of photography in Hannover and the support of the German Photojournalists’ Association Freelens the Lumix Festival has grown to be one of the leaders in Europe, focusing on visual journalistic work. The call for entries will be open until the 31st of January 2016 – The organizers are looking for impressive visual, journalistic work from photographers under 35 years for our showcase. All exhibitors will automatically participate in the four award competitions. An international jury will choose the winners of the prizes, worth a total of 23.000,00 €. The Freelens Award will go to the most impressive work of all the festival exhibitions and it will be rewarded with 10.000,00 Euro. In addition two Honorable Mentions will be awarded with a cash prize of 1.000,00 Euro each. The Lammerhuber Photography Award, which is worth 5.000,00 €, will be assigned to that report or series, which tells an everyday story in the most impressive way. The best journalistic multimedia production will be awarded with the Lumix Award and 5.000,00 Euro. In addition, two Honorable Mentions will also be awarded. The Audience Award worth, which is 1.000,00 Euro, is sponsered by the newspaper Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung (HAZ) – all visitors can vote for their personal favorite story. Amina Okuyeva poses for the photo in a flat she shares with her mother and son. She was on Maidan from December 2014 working as a medical volunteer.
