Organ Vida is a two-week international photography festival which is held every autumn in Zagreb in Croatia. The festival not only brings together contemporary photographers from all over the world, but it also aims to inspire discussions about social and political questions of global importance. Interactivity, innovativeness, creativity and inclusion are at the centre of what makes Organ Vida such a successful festival and enables it to become the largest and the most recent annual photography event in Southeast Europe.
In this year's festival theme
Revelations, motivated by the assumption that viewers have a right to be informed about topics of public importance, the organizers want to explore the way in which authors use photography as a medium through which they face the unknown, unrecorded and unspoken transformational and everyday experiences, their own destinies and destinies of other people, social and personal fights or life realisations.
The contest on the theme
Revelations lasted a little over a month, and during that period have been received more than 400 submissions of Croatian and international photography projects from as many as 58 countries from all inhabited continents.
At the Festival's main exhibition in September at the French Pavilion, the following authors will present their projects:
Kirill Golovchenko (Germany) with Bitter Honeydew, Gidon Levin (Israel) with 21 22 23, Maria Sturm and Cemre Yeşil (Germany/Turkey) with For Birds' Sake, Anne Müchler and Nico Schmitz (Germany) with Encounter, Mario Brand (Germany) with Storyteller, Qian Zhao (China) with Offcut, the Edge, Andrea & Magda (Italy/France) with Sïnai Park, M. Scott Brauer (USA) with This is the worst party I’ve ever been to, Michal Siarek (Poland) with Alexander, and Pierre Liebaert (Belgium) with Free now.
The finalists were selected by a jury composed of renowned names of Croatian and international photography, who will visit Zagreb in September:
Louise Clements (UK), Lea Vene (Croatia), Simon Norfolk (UK), Phillip Toledano (USA), Donald Weber (Canada), and Gillian Wearing (UK).
