What remains

Among the projects running for YToI 2015 under the Storytelling category, FPmag editorial staff have awarded Sarker Protick as Best Author. His photographic work, strongly characterised in its language, opens a different perspective on a human situation that too often is told with dark tones that make the works become less personal and efficient. He writes: «It was afternoon and I was sitting on my grandpa's sofa. The door was open and I saw the light passing between the white door and the white walls. Suddenly everything had a meaning. I still have clearly in my mind the images and the feelings. John and Prova, my grandparents, took care of me with a lot of love while I was growing up. They were young and strong, but as the time passed by everything changed. Their bodies have transformed and the relationships have ended up slowing down. My grandma's hair has become grey, the walls have peeled and all that is left are the objects in a single room. They have always loved the fact that I was taking pictures of them because I was spending a lot of time with them and they were feeling less lonely. After Prova died I tried to visit John more often so that he could talk to someone. He tells me stories of their life together, on how they met and the stories are many. Here life is quiet, suspended. Everything waits. Waiting for something that you do not believe to have fully understood».
