Travel portraiture with Eolo Perfido

Eolo Perfido will be in Cortona at the sixth edition of the Cortona On The Move festival to conduct a two-day workshop aimed at those who want to learn how to take photographs set outdoors or indoors for reportage, publishing, travel and street photography.

The initiative led by the photographer represented by the Agency Sudest57 (Leica Ambassador from 2014 and Professor of Street Photography Leica Akademie) will aim to explore travel portrayal through a complex theoretical and practical path that will allow participants to examine in-depth the major aspects of this photographic genre of which the complexity is often underestimated. During the two days of lessons therefore both technical issues - such as lighting, composition, editing and the most appropriate choice of equipment – as well as various issues relating to the proper management of the relationship with the photographed subject and all the organisation of a photographic journey will be addressed. Different practical exercises will also be provided aiming to put the students in a position to try in the field what they have learned during the first part of the workshop, as well as the collective analysis of the material produced.

Specifically, during the first day of class there will be a practical session focusing on the portrait on location, both in ambient light as well as mixed light, while on the second day exercises will focus on the portrait indoors, always in natural and mixed light. All of this is to enable the participants to learn how to correctly interpret the potential of different locations and so to accomplish portraits with a strong emotional impact.

The workshop is scheduled for the 16th and 17th July 2016 and will include eight to twelve participants. The initiative falls within the educational programme organised on the occasion of the 2016 edition of Cortona On The Move and realised thanks to the collaboration between Cortona OTM and Leica Akademie.
